Orient Wharf
The Project
Shotcrete Services Ltd was tasked with a range of repairs to the South, East and West walls of a One Housing development on the North bank of the river Thames in Wapping, East London.
The Solution
The works involved complex programming and planning due to the tidal nature of the site and work area. Collaboration with other trades was key to complete the works on time and on budget.
Planning and sequencing works and access scaffolding were especially difficult and meant that reaching milestones and targets were imperative.
As the wall was demolished and repaired, several variations were required due to unforeseen issues.
In order to reach the works on the West and South walls we had to utilise large negative reach MEWPS and a crane suspended Man Rider basket to access works.
Due to the project bordering a public open space and gardens in the early summer the programme was extremely tight with key tasks needing to overlap at specific dates in order to progress logically and on time.
Protection of the gardens and proximity to the residential building had to be constantly reviewed and assessed to ensure a safe and snag free worksite was maintained.
The Outcome
Through daily and weekly meetings and immaculate record keeping by the site teams we managed to complete our works ahead of programme and with zero defects.
The layout and access to the working areas was complex as the gardens were above an underground car park with a slab that had an unknown loading, so requiring props to be placed and removed below the working platform as plant was moved above.
By using our multi skilled teams we managed to cover all aspects of the works with the same core team across a multitude of tasks.
Our highly trained teams received praise from the client for the high quality of workmanship & Health and Safety values throughout the project.
